Plant RashesTreating Plant Rashes
Mild rashes may be treated with non-prescription medicines, but hydrocortisone creams and over the counter lotions may be ineffective. Your doctor may recommend a prescription anithistamine or corticosteroid. Topical corticosteroids may be used to treat the itching and swelling associated with plant rashes. Ask your doctor if topical corticosteroids may be right for you. See full prescribing information for Psorcon® E. Psorcon® E is a topical corticosteroid that is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects of topical corticosteroids are burning, itching, irritation, dryness, and inflamed hair follicles. Topical corticosteroids may cause reversible HPA axis suppression, increases in sugar in your blood and urine, or Cushing's syndrome. Bandages or diapers should not be used to cover areas being treated unless directed by your doctor. Safety and effectiveness in children have not been tested. |
